Information sharing

On March 3rd the Government published the response to the chronic failures to protect children from sexual exploitation in Rotherham. A key factor in this is sharing information. The letter below sets out how and when personal information should be shared. A package of cross-Government information sharing guidance will be published by the end of March 2015.

Important information in relation to revised requirements for Birmingham Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 moderation 2014-15

In order for the Local Authority to implement and carry out a robust statutory moderation process as set out by Standards and Testing Agency (STA) it has been necessary for us to make the following changes to the data collection process this year:

The LA will review data submission from all schools in relation to any unexpected pattern of attainment and will use recorded pupil identifiers and outcomes of external moderation to ensure schools’ data accurately reflects moderated outcomes.

Moderated schools must inform the LA of their intention to amend any TA level before data submission.

Where submitted data differs from the moderated data, the LA must investigate the difference and refer the issue to STA if required.

For KS2 this will mean we will need to access data reports from the NCA tools website. It is therefore necessary to set an LA deadline of Friday 12th June 2015 for schools to upload their KS2 TAs to the NCA tools website. This is earlier than the date published in the Assessment and Reporting Arrangements and will allow us to perform this moderation task.

For KS1 the deadline for KS1 submission to the LA will be Friday 19th June 2015. More information about how to return KS1, Phonics and your EYFSP outcomes to the LA will be published later in the year.

NQTs registered with Services for Education

A reminder that the deadline for all NQT second term assessments is 17th April 2015.

 And finally….

We will be at the Education Show at the NEC this year, March 19-21. Come along and say hello or come to the seminar we are running on the Friday afternoon –  ‘Trusting Teacher Judgements, it’s what we’ve been asking for – life without levels’.
